Abstract

Relevance. In modern society, the principles of security training for the population are an integral part of physical culture. According to many experts, hand-to-hand combat performs these functions. However, the quality of hand-to-hand combat training directly depends on the professional competence of the specialist. The quality of a specialist's training directly determines the level of efficiency of the training process and the applied readiness of subordinates for actions in a hand-to-hand encounter. The issue of personal and professional development and self- development of hand-to-hand combat specialists remains relevant. Purpose is to identify the specific features of the professional activity of hand-to-hand combat specialists and the main directions of their self-development to improve the efficiency of the training process. Material and Methods. The respondents were subjects of physical culture and sports organizations of various levels: 7 heads of hand-to-hand combat sports clubs, 9 sports managers, and 12 coaching staff members. Additionally, the expert survey included specialists whose functional roles aligned more closely with the status of the object of management: 14 instructors, 8 administrative staff members, and 22 athletes. A total of 72 respondents were involved in the study. The study employed the method of theoretical analysis and generalization of previous research findings, sociological methods (survey), and methods of mathematical statistics. Results. The findings indicate that most specialists rated their professional competence highly in such areas as subject-specific knowledge, general and communicative culture, and organizational skills. At the same time, respondents assessed their methodological preparedness, inclination toward research activities, and openness to innovation somewhat lower. The majority of specialists identified organizational activity as their primary function. However, 82 % of heads of hand-to-hand combat sports clubs consider attracting as many people as possible to sports activities their main task; 97 % of coaches emphasize the organization of the training and educational process; 86 % of sports managers focus on coordinating work with coaches and athletes; and 99 % of athletes prioritize preparation and successful performance in competitions. Conclusions. The proposed structure of professional effectiveness, which includes ten integrative indicators considered within strategic, organizational, and communicative dimensions, may serve as the foundation for a unified model of professional development and self-development of hand-to-hand combat specialists.
