Abstract

Background. The high prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and their significant economic and social consequences necessitate the development and implementation of effective preventive and rehabilitation programs. Physical culture and sports-based rehabilitation is considered one of the most effective means of preventing cardiovascular diseases, particularly in reducing atherosclerotic changes in blood vessels and the heart. Purpose. To substantiate the effectiveness of a comprehensive program using physical culture and sports rehabilitation tools through a comparative analysis of changes in morphofunctional indicators of amateur volleyball players. Materials and Methods. The study involved 44 men aged 42–54 years. For the pedagogical experiment, participants were divided into an experimental group (EG, n = 22), which followed a comprehensive integrated program including elements of amateur volleyball, and a control group (CG, n = 22), which trained according to a standard program. Morphofunctional indicators and the state of the cardiorespiratory system were assessed. The data obtained were processed using the STATISTICA 13.0 (StatSoft) software package with the application of parametric and nonparametric statistical methods. Results and Conclusions. The findings demonstrated that reductions in body mass and body mass index in men of the experimental group served as a morphological basis for increased chest excursion. In contrast, the absence of significant changes in anthropometric parameters in the control group limited the development of functional reserves of the respiratory system.
