Abstract

Relevance. The modern development of physical culture and sports is characterized by the widespread introduction of innovative technologies for controlling, monitoring and assessing a person’s physical condition. The growing requirements for the effectiveness of the training process, ensuring the objectivity of assessing physical fitness, functional state and sports performance actualizes the need to use scientifically based measurement methods. In this context, sports metrology is one of the leading areas of modern sports science, which provides reliable quantitative information on indicators of physical development, physical fitness, functional capabilities of the body and technical and tactical skills of athletes. The Purpose of the Study is to theoretically substantiate the role of sports metrology as an effective means of control and measurement in physical culture and sports, as well as to determine the main areas of use of modern metrological technologies to increase the effectiveness of pedagogical control, assessment of physical fitness and management of the training process. Research Methods. To achieve the set goal, a set of complementary research methods was used: analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature; pedagogical observation; pedagogical testing; anthropometric measurements; physiological assessment methods; functional tests; physical fitness testing; sports metrology methods for assessing the accuracy, reliability, reproducibility and informativeness of measurement results. Research Results. The results of the study confirmed that the use of modern means of sports metrology significantly increases the effectiveness of pedagogical control in physical culture and sports. Analysis of anthropometric indicators showed that the majority of the subjects were characterized by normal indicators of physical development. The values of the body mass index corresponded to the physiological norm, which indicates the absence of pronounced deviations in the physical condition of the participants. The average value of the Roufier index corresponded to a sufficient level of the functional state of the cardiovascular system. The results obtained confirm a sufficient level of adaptation of student youth to dosed physical exertion. Conclusions. Sports metrology is one of the fundamental areas of modern sports science, which provides a scientifically sound system for monitoring, measuring and evaluating indicators of physical development, physical fitness and functional state of individuals involved in physical culture and sports.
