Author Guidelines

To be able to submit manuscripts to the journal and to check their current status, it is necessary to register on the site (http://sport.vnu.edu.ua) or to send materials to the following e-mail address: sport@vnu.edu.ua

The content of an article should correspond to the topic areas of the journal.

The journal accepts research articles provided that:

• the work has not been previously published in another journal;
• the work is not being considered by another journal;
• all co-authors agree on the publication of the article.

Articles are accepted only in the form of the original text of the author. Cited material, constituting not more than 10% of the entire text, must be drawn up with appropriate references to the source.

In submitting an article to the journal, the author:

• agrees that its complete text be placed on the Internet;
• agrees with the recommendations of the World Association of Medical Editors and COPE in accordance with the principles of the ethics of scientific publications. (https://publicationethics.org/files/International%20standards_authors_for% 20website_11_Nov_2011.pdf).

Authors agree to have their personal data collected and processed for inclusion in the database in accordance with the Law of Ukraine No. 2297-VI "On Protection of Personal Data" of 01.06.2010. The names and email addresses specified by users of this publication's site will only be used for internal technical tasks; they will not be distributed or transmitted to unauthorized persons.

The language of the manuscript is Ukrainian, English.

Authors bear responsibility for the content of the article, not the editorial board or the publishing house.  If an article is evaluated favourably, it will be presented in English as well as in the original language, in cases where it was not in English initially.

 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CONFIGURATION OF MANUSCRIPTS

 The article should be accompanied by a summary, a list of keywords and a list of the sources used.

The manuscript file must contain:

• the UDC article number (upper left corner);
• the title of the article (up to 12 words in upper-case letters);
• the surname and first name of the author(s), with the affiliation (degree, rank, position, place of work or study, city, country);
• the author’s e-mail contact address.

 Summary (230-250 words structured in such a way (with subheading placement in bold): the relevance of the research topic, the purpose and methods of the research, the results of the work and the key conclusions, a selection of keywords (5-6 words or set phrases) that indicate the specifics of the subject, the object and results of the research, none of which should duplicate the words in the title of the article.

• the text of the article;
• expressions of acknowledgement (if necessary);
• sources.

Metadata (summaries) are to be provided in the original language of the article and in English; (if the language of the article is English, then the metadata is in English and in Ukrainian).

 Computer translations are not allowed.

It is not acceptable to use abbreviations or terms employed for the first time without providing an explanation of them. All abbreviations should be explained when used for the first time. If there are many abbreviations, a list with the explanation of each of them can be provided before the text of the article.

Introduction (the formulation of a scientific problem and its connection with important scientific or practical tasks, analysis of research, which initiated the solution of this problem and based on the author; the identification of previously unclaimed parts of the general problem that reveals this article). The text of the article should conform to the IMRAD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion). Thus the following sections must be highlighted: the introduction; the aim of the study; the source material and research methods; the research results; and the conclusions.

The purpose of the research (the goal should be to solve a problem or to acquire knowledge about it. The aim of the study is its final result; the task is to formulate questions which correspond to the purpose of the research. To achieve this goal, it is desirable to use words such as establish, identify, develop, and prove.)

Research material and methods. This section should be brief, but sufficient to enable other researchers to repeat the study; it should contain three subsections (additional units may be added if necessary):

(1) Members:

Specify the number of participants, and the age and sports qualifications of the subjects. Please note that we have received informed consent from all the participants to participate in this experiment.

(2) Organization of the Research:

This summary should be brief, precise and logical (containing brief information about each step of the research, the duration and the steps involved in the experiment). Specify the devices, equipment, and the tests used.

(3) Statistical Analysis:

Under the subheading "Statistical Analysis", authors should explain which statistical methods have been used in the analysis of the data presented in the section "Research Results" and should justify their application. Statistical methods should be described in detail to ensure the verification of the results presented. The statistical values ​​should be shown along with the data in the text, as well as in the tables and figures. At the end of the statistical analysis authors should indicate the level of significance and the statistical programs which were used.

We wish to bring to the attention of the authors that a simple enumeration of used methods of research is unacceptable.

The protocol for data collection, procedures, test parameters, measurement methods, and equipment should be described in sufficient detail to enable other scientists to reproduce the results. Reference must be made to the methods used. Little-known or substantially modified methods should be described in detail, and the names of the devices used should be accompanied by information about the manufacturer (name, city and country), indicated in brackets.

Providing information about participants in experiments (or patients) requires their formal consent. For research involving patients and volunteers, documentation of informed consent must be provided in the text of the manuscript. When children are involved, experiments must be preceded by the receipt of written consent from their parents, as we mention in this section. With respect to experiments involving human beings, reports should indicate whether the procedure was conducted in accordance with the ethical standards of the Responsible Committee on Human Rights (Experiments or Institutional Regional) or the Helsinki Declaration of 2008.

The editorial staff reserves the right to request any source data from authors at any stage during the review or publication process, including post publication. Refusing to provide the requested information may delay the publication or cancel the acceptance.

Research Results. A summary of the main research material with a complete justification of the scientific results obtained (the results of the research with the obligatory statistical processing of data should be presented in the form of tables, graphs, and charts.) The data displayed in the tables should be substantial, complete, and reliable. The titles of tables and the names of the graphs or diagrams should match their content. Research results should of necessity be analyzed.

Discussion. This section is considered to be the most important element of a scientific article. To the maximum extent, it needs to uphold the accuracy of the author's point of view, summing up and comparing the results of his own research and the data of other authors to confirm the various scientific hypotheses. It is necessary to explain the essence of the received data, to evaluate possible contradictions and unexpected results, and to offer further research options.

Conclusions. (This part includes a short formulation of the results of the research, a generalization of the topic, as well as prospects for future research. The conclusions should be concise, specific, and logical, corresponding to the purpose of the research and should be derived from the main content of the work).

After the text of the article should contain a patch list of sources used.

All sources given in the bibliography should be cited in the text of the article; otherwise the corresponding element should be deleted. If the article to which the link points has a digital identifier DOI (http://www.doi.org/index.html), it must be specified.

References should contain a sufficient number of recent sources (within the last five years) relevant to the research problem.

The list should include scientific articles of Ukrainian and foreign authors.

A reference to the authors' own work (self-citation) is allowed, but constituting no more than 12% of the total number of sources.

If the text is in Ukrainian or Russian, then the list of literature should consist of two parts: «Sources and Literature» and «References».

The list of references «Sources and Literature» is a bibliographic description of the sources used during the preparation of the article, executed in the original language and executed in accordance with DSTU 8302: 2015: Bibliographic link. General terms and conditions of assembly (http://lib.pu.if.ua/files/dstu-8302-2015.pdf).

However, if foreign-language sources appear on the list, they do not need to be translated into Ukrainian.

«References» is a duplicate list of references «Sources and Literature», formulated in accordance with the APA standard (http://www.apastyle.org/ in English (and/or using transliteration).

The names of Cyrillic sources are transliterated, with a translation placed afterward in square brackets.

 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. The main text of the article is to be 8-15 pages in length.

2. The textual material should be prepared using the MS Word word processing program (* .doc format).

3. Page parameters:

Paper size: A4;  left margin: 3 cm, right margin: 1 cm; top and bottom margins: 2 cm, including headers and page numbers.

4. Font of the main text: Times New Roman, 14 pt font size; normal, non-hyphenated text strings.

5. Paragraph parameters:

- full justification;

- line spacing: 1.5;

- first line indent: 1 cm;

- 0 mm line spacing between paragraphs.

6. Tables and diagrams.

The number of the table material should correspond to the illustration numbers. Digital material is presented in a table with a serial number, right-justified (for example: Table 1) and the title (centered above the table in boldface, such as: Student distribution by level of physical activity). The text of the table is entered using the Times New Roman font, 12 point size, and single line spacing.

The image should be the only graphic object (i.e. grouped). For drawings in Excel, an Excel file (97-2003) must be enclosed with the article.

Illustrations should also be numbered; they must have captions that are specified outside the grouped graphic object (for example: Figure 1. Dynamics of physical capacity). Illustrative material must be presenting in contrasting black and white, the way of filling in charts–dashed).

Formulas (with standard numbering) are executed using  the Microsoft Equation editor. Patterns and formulas must be available for editing. No graphic objects should be scanned.
