The article is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the evolution of the physical fitness assessment system in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) from the Bar-Or test to the modern IDF Combat Fitness Test (CFT). The relevance of the study is driven by the increasing demands for functional readiness of personnel in modern combat conditions, where soldiers are expected to demonstrate not only physical endurance but also the ability to effectively perform tasks in stressful, dynamic, and dangerous situations. The physical fitness assessment system in the IDF has undergone from the British training models adopted in 1948 to the development of its own combat fitness concept, integrating physical, psychological, and social training components. The purpose of this work is to study the historical evolution of the physical fitness testing system in the IDF, identify the key factors in its modernization, and assess the impact of the new model on the combat capability of the armed forces.to analyze and determine the impact of the development of physical qualities and military-applied skills of servicemen on the effectiveness of performing military and professional tasks. Methods – historical-comparative, systematic-analytical, and generalizing analysis of normative documents, military reports, and practices of applying the Bar-Or and CFT tests. Results. It has been established that the transition to CFT provided a more accurate reflection of the actual combat readiness of soldiers. Unlike the Bar-Or test, which focused on assessing overall endurance and strength, the CFT includes complex exercises that simulate real combat conditions: running with weights, overcoming obstacles, strength tests, and shooting with personal weapons after physical exertion. This has contributed to a reduction in injuries, increased stress resistance, coordination of actions, and accuracy in the execution of combat tasks. Conclusions. The research conducted has revealed that physical training in the IDF performs an important social function, promoting the integration of different population groups, fostering patriotism, and strengthening national unity. Israel's experience can be valuable for improving the system of assessing the physical fitness of servicemen in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, particularly in the context of developing functional training, preventing physical overload, and increasing combat endurance.
